RIVER WOOD STUDIO
River Wood is James’ studio, located a five minute drive from the Elan Valley, the Lake District of Wales.
Downstaris is a gallery and bookshop, displaying new original artwork and prints as well as a selection of nature titles.
TWO LIGHTS is a non-fiction book exploring wonder, wildness and the biodiversity crisis through the prism of twilight.
It was long-listed for the RSL Ondaatje Prize for writing about place in 2024 and is published in paperback in July 2025.
ART
James exhibits widely with galleries in the UK. He creates original artworks using ink and salt, and produces a range of digital prints which can be purchased from this website. His portfolio website can be found at:
TEACHING
James teaches workshops using creative techniques to encourage a closer connection to the natural world. Workshops are hosted at his studio, and online.
