JAMES ROBERTS | Artist and Writer | Creative Guide to the Wild World
For the seas, rivers, woods, and their wild inhabitants.
I’m a writer, artist, and teacher helping people reconnect with the wild world through the rhythms of the seasons, creative practice, and a deeper way of paying attention.
My work invites you to move beyond passive appreciation of nature and into a lived, attentive relationship with the land. Through writing, art, and grounded teaching, I offer a practical path back to presence: with animals, birds, wildflowers, rivers, and the turning year.
Whether you’re reading my books, walking through one of my courses, or living with one of my artworks on your wall, this is work designed not just to reflect the world, but to reawaken your relationship with it.

“This is not inspiration for inspiration’s sake. It’s a way of seeing—and a way of returning.”
A RETURN TO THE LIVING WORLD
Return to the seasons. Return to presence. Return to a way of seeing that begins with attention and leads to action.
I offer tools for reconnecting with animals, birds, wildflowers, rivers, seas. This is not lifestyle—it’s a shift in how we live and make meaning.
Every offering I create—from Substack essays to immersive courses—is built on this ethic:
To live with the world, not above it.
To replace disconnection with grounded practice.
To remember that we are part of something ancient and wild.
Modern life disconnects us, from the land, from time, from the living world around us. We scroll, consume, and rush past what we no longer notice. We’ve been taught to see nature as scenery, not as kin.
I believe attentive practice can be a way back.
I help people rebuild relationship with the land. Not as escape, but as return. Not as tourists of the wild, but as participants in it.
This work is not about self-expression or self-determination, it’s about reorientation to place, to presence, to the more-than-human world.
It’s about learning to see clearly.
If we want a meaningful life,
we have to relearn how to live with the earth
